About
Governance and compliance work, read against systems theory and literature.
I'm Jasper Donkers, Lead Compliance Architect & Officer at The Digital Capability Company, where I design, validate, and operate digital systems for biotech, life sciences, and critical infrastructure environments.
My work sits at the intersection of governance and compliance in safety-critical environments — where security, quality, and resilience have to hold together, and where frameworks meet operational reality. I've come to think resilience emerges less from perfect design than from honest engagement with how systems actually behave.
HiddenCove is where I work that out in public. The aim is to test whether the frameworks we use to govern complex systems hold up against narrative — and whether narrative can reveal what frameworks obscure.
Each month I read three works in parallel — one non-fiction, one fiction, one film — and the essay emerges from the friction between them. When the essay is finished, all three are replaced and the next cycle begins. The non-fiction isn't always theory; it might be history, biography, or reporting. The fiction can be literary or popular. The film can be a feature or a documentary. The Sources page shows what's currently live and the archive of what has fed earlier essays.
HiddenCove has published monthly since June 2025, with ten essays now in the archive and a growing glossary of concepts drawn from them.
